Jim Celone: A Yale University graduate who holds a M.S. in Statistics. For 14 years he taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at
West Haven High School, and currently is a founding teacher at Amistad Academy High School, where he also coaches the Math and Chess Teams. He is a USCF Certified Chess Coach and Tournament
Director, president of the CT State Chess Association, and coached the
chess team at West Haven High School, winning the Connecticut State Championship
from 1997 to 2008, the 2004 U1500 National High
School Chess Championship, and the 2005 New England High School Championship.
He was honored as 2002 CT Chess Coach of the Year.
Paul Luysterborghs was captain of the West Haven High School 1997 State
Championship Chess Team, and is assistant coach for the current WHHS chess team.
Chris Ferraro was a member of the West Haven High School 2002 CT. State Championship
Team. He is currently a student at Yale University, and assistant coach of the WHHS
chess team, and Financial Trustee on the CSCA Board of Directors.
Derek Mansfield was captain of the 2002 CT. State Championship Team. He is currently a
student at Quinnipiac University, and assistant coach of the WHHS chess team, and CSCA
membership secretary.
Cameron Bishop was captain of the 2003 and 2004 CT. State Championship Teams, captain of
the 2004 U1500 National High School Championship Team, and won the 2004 U1500 National
High School Chess Championships with a perfect score 7-0. He is featured on p. 24 in the
June 2004 issue of Chess Life Magazine
